Frequently Asked Questions by Car Owners

Another busy, yet exciting week.  Last July 7, 2010, we soft-launched AutoSally to car owners in Washington, DC Metro area.  During this soft-launch period, we are gathering feedback from friends, families and some other users and also collecting questions.  Since I believe others may share the same questions, I thought I better post them in this blog.  Here they are… 

1. What is AutoSally?

AutoSally is an online market place for car owners and mechanics where car owners can post services needed for their car and mechanics can submit their offer.  Please see our video introduction in our Home page and on the top right side of this blog for more detailed information.

2. Why should I register with and post my job at AutoSally? I can just call mechanics in my local area

There are many reasons for you to register with and post your job at AutoSally (as you can see on the embedded presentation below).  Shortly, registering and posting your job at AutoSally is fast and easy. To get quotes from different mechanics you don’t have to call them one by one and be put on hold. When you call mechanics, you have to call them during their office hours, which means you have to call them during your work hours or during your lunch time. At AutoSally, you can post your job at anytime, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Besides, mechanics who submitted their offer through AutoSally know that you may get several offers for your job, so they will only provide their best quotes in writing (not verbally).

Before you select the best offer, you can review the mechanics’ profile, rating, and feedback at AutoSally. You can also ask many questions to the mechanics through AutoSally before you select their offer. Mechanics know that you may provide a feedback once the job is completed, so they will give you their best services.

3. How much does it cost me?

This is one of my favorite questions. You pay us nothing. Register with us, posting your job, and selecting a mechanic are free and will always free for car owners. Please always refer to our Terms of Service for the most up to date information.

4. Can I post any car repair / maintenance jobs at AutoSally?

At this time, we focus on standard maintenance and repair jobs for your cars. For example, you can post a 30k factory scheduled maintenance job for your car at AutoSally. AutoSally will provide a list of all tasks that need to be completed for factory scheduled maintenance for your car. AutoSally also allows you to post non-factory scheduled maintenance services and repairs, however you need to know exactly what services needed for your car. For example, you can post jobs to replace your brake shoes and rotors, timing belt, drive belts, engine starter, etc.

If you don’t know exactly the problem(s) with your car, you will need to bring it to a mechanic first for a diagnosis. AutoSally can help you finding a trusted, qualified mechanic in your local area. Just go to the Mechanic List page on our website.

5. What happen if I have a dispute with a mechanic?

You are solely responsible for our interactions with the mechanic. AutoSally provides a venue only whereby you may contact various mechanics. If there is a dispute between you and a mechanic, you acknowledge and agree that AutoSally is under no obligation to become involved in the dispute. Please always refer to our Terms of Service for more detailed information.
